On Arrival at the Kilimanjaro international airport you are going to be welcomed by our Wildgem safari guide who is going to be your personal guide throughout your experience with us. He will help you settle in then give you a short briefing then he will drive you to your accommodation for the first night in Mosh/Arusha.

Day 1
Landanai
On this day 1 you are going to visit the Landanai mine a home to tourmaline and ruby gem. The mine is located in Lorbene and Naberera, approximately 4hr drive away so we need to be up early in order to start the tour on time. Ruby is the red variety of corundum and has been highly valued as one of the most popular gemstones for centuries. Because it’s a nine on the Mohs Scale of hardness being scratched by dust or other objects. On the other side Tourmaline is the alternate birthstone for October, along with the Opal. The stone was first discovered by Dutch traders off the West Coast of Italy in the late 1600s or early 1700s. you will learn more about this two spectacular gem from the miners and then later evening you will head back take dinner on your way then head back to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2
You will visit Lemshuku mines on this day which is home to the Tsavorite, breakfast will be served early in the morning while you enjoy a beautiful sunrise. After breakfast you will head to Lemshuku mine, the drive is approximated to take two to three hours. You will learn and discuss the history and the formation of tsavorite; its discovery, how it is mined, types of equipment used in mining and how it has changed the life of the locals of the area. You will be shown different mining sites that have had massive production and will get a chance to tour in one of the mines. For those who wish to have an experience going several meters below the earth’s surface here is your opportunity. Safety gear and guidance will be provided throughout the tour. You will have lunch after the activity and afterwards if time allows, we can enjoy a sundowner before heading to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay

Day 3
You will be going visit the Tanzanite Mines in the Mererani district on Day 3. After breakfast you will have a short drive towards the Mererani area and start your Tanzanite tour. This tour will introduce you to the history of this magnificent mineral. also gives you the opportunity to see for yourself how each precious gem is graded and cut. The Mererani Tanzanite mines are where the blue Zoisite Tanzanite was first discovered in 1968 and are still mined both by the local and large-scale miners today. You will descend down to the mine to explore how the mining process takes place, as you explore the machinery and spend time with the miners on site. Later you will leave the camp after lunch and head back to your accommodation.

Day 4
Today is the last day of the tour and you will be Visiting the local gem market in Arusha After breakfast where you will be heading towards the fascinating world of the Tanzania local gemstone Market. Here you will discover the vibrant gemstone culture you will get to see local gems of different varieties from different locations around Arusha. Later on you can decide to visit smaller market around town to see what everyone has. You will continue learning more about the gems from the locals then later in the evening you will drive back take dinner then head to the hotel for overnight marking the end of your gem tour.
